Hamptons Independent Theatre Festival returns with a blend of extraordinary Equity actors and talented local pros in fully staged and costumed performances of The Tempest.

thousands of visitors in East Hampton in August – to bring a blanket and a picnic basket.

in East Hampton.

The Tempest is produced by the Hamptons Independent Theatre Festival. HITFest
is the production entity of The Naked Stage, which has served as a lab for theatre
artists on the East End since 2000. HITFest has produced several well-reviewed and
well-attended productions including In the Bar of a Tokyo Hotel, Extremities, Midsummer
Nights Dream, and In the Next Room. and Terrence McNally’s Frankie and Johnny in
the Clair de Lune. HITFest also regularly produces Water’s Edge Radio Hour for a live
audience for broadcast on Southampton public radio station WPPB 88.3 FM.


JOSH PERL | Director

Josh is a director and author. He directed All Soul’s Day, Another House on Mercy
Street, In the Bar of a Tokyo Hotel, In the Next Room, A Midsummer Night’s Dream,
Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and The Tempest. Josh also founded and
ran The Naked Stage at Guild Hall in East Hampton, NY. Josh’s novel Irregular Joe
and play Six Walls, won Steinbeck Awards. Josh is the host of Water’s Edge Radio
Hour Live Broadcast.



Rich is Adjunct Professor of English at New York University. He is author of
Shakespeare’s Dilemmas and many articles and papers on the subject of
Renaissance English Theater. He was the dramaturg of the Hamptons Shakespeare
Festival from 1998 to 2004 and for three productions of Shakespeare for Guild Hall
in East Hampton, as well as for HitFest’s production of Midsummer NIght’s Dream.


PETER-TOLIN BAKER | Production Designer

Peter has served as a scenic designer for Citiarts Theater, Palo Alto Players,
Marin Theatre Compnay, Calveeras Rep Theater and Lake Tahoe Sheakespeare
Festival, among others. He was production designer and performer with the
groundbreaking band Voice Farm. He is founder of NYC based P-T B Design
Services, which provides creative visual design solutions for retail stores, designer
brands, exhibitions and promotional events.



Peter is a writer and producer. His plays include The Pool With Five Porches, Who’s
Not Ready Holler I, Off The Meter, H. Finn, Esq., and Good Night, Sleep Tight. His work
has been presented at The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center National Playwrights
Conference, The New York International Fringe Festival, The Hudson Guild, The
Martin S. Kaufman Theater. The GeVa Theatre, the Town & Gown Theater, and,
proudly, at The Bridge in Bridgehampton, NY.


JOHN LANDES | Producer

John is an arts and business entrepreneur. He is Chairman of the Board of
WPPB, 88.3 FM Southampton, and co-founder of the Sag Harbor American
Music Festival, Orchestra of Our Time, and the Jam Session at Bay Burger in
Sag Harbor. John is a member of the Bar in New York and Massachusetts.
